Five tidal power developers interested in the Bay of Fundy

The Nova Scotia Department of Energy received five responses to an expression of interest issued this fall, looking for a fourth tidal stream power developer to occupy the FORCE tidal energy demonstration site in the Minas Passage, Bay of Fundy. The deadline for proposals was Nov. 22. The five interested companies include: Rolls-Royce Ltd., Champlain Tidal Energy Corp. Ltd.(Nova Scotia), General Power Engineering Associates, Inc. (Florida), Atlantis Resources Corp. (England), and Verdant Power Canada Inc.(Ontario/US). The decision on the successful bidder will be made in 2011.
