OERA Announces Student Research Travel Program Award Recipients

Offshore Energy Research Association (OERA) has awarded funds to six students of up to $5000 each to support their research related to tidal marine energy and offshore petroleum/geoscience. The Student Research Travel Program helps offset the cost of travel for students conducting research out-of-province by funding return airfare, accommodations, and meals for up to two weeks.  The program focuses on cultivating collaborations between student researchers in Nova Scotia and Canadian and international research facilities or laboratories which contribute to the advancement of the offshore energy sector in Nova Scotia.

The program will aid Carla Dickson and Taylor Campbell, from Dalhousie University, to attend a Petroleum Methods Field Course in the West Indies.  The program will also support Jeremy Broome and Peter Porskamp, from Acadia University, who will be attending a week long SeaBASS course in Virginia, USA.  In addition, two students from Dalhousie University will be crossing the pond to Europe to conduct their energy research.  Justine McMillan will be conducting research on the Reliable Data Acquisition Project in Scotland and Martin Leguizamon will be conducting turbine design research in Germany and in the Netherlands.
