Executive Chair

Dr. Anna Redden

Anna is a marine ecologist and professor in Biology at Acadia University. Her tidal energy research experience commenced in the early 1980s, with ecological studies associated with the installation of a tidal power generating station in the Annapolis Royal causeway (1985). She has served as the director of both the Acadia Centre for Estuarine Research (2005-2023) and Acadia Tidal Energy Institute (since 2011), and co-founded and co0chaired the Fundy Energy Research Network.

She was an independent director on both the Board of FORCE (2009-2016) and the Board of the Offshore Energy Research Association of Nova Scotia (2017-2022). She more recently co-chaired the Risk and Monitoring Working Group of the Task Force on Sustainable Tidal Energy Development in the Bay of Fundy. Anna currently leads a large, multi-year project, Reducing Fish-Turbine Collision Risk Uncertainty in Minas Passage, Bay of Fundy, and is a research collaborator in FORCE's Ocean Sensor Innovation Platforms project.

Network Manager

Elise Malicki

Elise joined the Fundy Energy Research Network in 2026 as Network Manager. She is responsible for maintaining membership communications, identifying industry opportunities, and directing initiatives within FERN.

Prior to joining FERN, Elise served as the Events & Member Services Officer at Marine Renewables Canada (MRC). Assisting with the development of their annual conference, member relations, trade missions, and networking events. Throughout her time with MRC, Elise got connected with FERN and made her transition to her current role.

Elise holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University, with a major in International Business, minor in Law, Justice & Society, and certificate in Management Accounting.
