Map depicting the underwater landscapes of the Bay of Fundy is now available from online at GEOSCAN.

The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board (UARB) has issued a Notice of Public Hearing for the setting of the Tidal Energy Feed-In Tariff (FIT) rate for Developmental Tidal Arrays. This FIT will apply to in-stream tidal devices in units greater than 0.5 MW or arrays.

OERA is pleased to announce a new graduate student research travel program.  The program is open to full-time graduate students enrolled at a Nova Scotia based university and undertaking research in marine renewable energy or geosciences.  The objective of the program is aimed at cultivating collaborations between Nova Scotia researchers and Canadian and international research facilities or laboratories, where longer term, will contribute to the advancement of the offshore energy sector in Nova Scotia. 

Halifax, Nova Scotia will be host to the fifth International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) in October 2014, slated to attract between 700-800 leaders and experts in the global marine renewable energy industry. The Associate Minister of National Defence and Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency) (La Francophonie), the Honourable Bernard Valcourt announced today at the 4th ICOE in Dublin, Ireland that Canada has won the bid to host the event’s first showing outside of Europe.
