The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board has scheduled a hearing on April 4, 2011, to determine feed-in tariff rates for Community Feed-in Tariffs related to renewable energy.

October 15, 2010. Province of Nova Scotia released its New Renewable Electricity Regulations which establishes two Feed-in-Tariff programs - a Community Feed-in Tariff (COMFIT) for small-scale projects and a feed-in tariff for larger Developmental Tidal Arrays.

October 7, 2010. The University of Maine's Tidal Power Initiative has won a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to help determine the environmental impact protocols at Ocean Renewable Power Co.'s tidal turbine test site in Eastport.

October 20, 2010 is the deadline for in-stream tidal energy developers to submit proposals to the Province to demonstrate their technologies at the 4th birth at the Fundy Tidal Energy Demonstration Site.

The province to begin consultations to inform formation of legislation on marine renewable energy development. The consultation process will end Nov. 15
